She Had Bad Genes

Eric got to talking about the recent rumors that a tape of a Marilyn Monroe psychiatric session has surfaced. On the tape she thanks her doctor for teaching her how to have an orgasm.

Excuse me . . . Teaching?

Later on in the session she admits that she's had to learn to be an Oscar-worthy actress in bed . . . presumably due to her inability to experience the orgasm without a syllabus.

Lucky for us gals of the 21st century, we now know that a woman's ability to reach orgasm is linked to genetics. From New Scientist:

. . . findings suggest there is an underlying biological basis to a woman’s ability to achieve orgasm. Whether that basis is anatomical, physiological or psychological remains uncertain, says Tim Spector of the twin research unit at St Thomas’ Hospital in London, UK, who carried out the study.

“But it is saying that it is not purely cultural, or due to peer pressure, or to differences in upbringing or religion,” he says. “There are wide differences between women and a lot of these differences are due to genes.”

[snip]

Only 14% of the women reported always experiencing orgasm during intercourse. Another 32% of the women reported that they were unable to achieve orgasm more than a quarter of the time, while 16% never achieved it at all. Comparing the results from identical and non-identical twins suggests that 34% of this variation in ability to orgasm during intercourse is genetic.

So all the lectures, slides, practice sessions, and diagrams are not going to help if, like Marilyn Monroe, you've got bad genes. Do not bring a number two pencil. Just hang up the headphones, and turn in the test blank. (BTW, Mom and Dad, thank you for putting me into the fourteeners! Bet you're proud to know you gave me good genes.)

In related news, Sadie discovered a report that emotionally explosive visuals can cause flash blindness. In other words, it isn't masturbation that makes you blind, rather, looking at naughty bits!

That's what they depend on in Victoria's Secret. "See the nice boobies?" they say. "Yes? Good. Because the price tags aren't in Braille!"

Marilyn was also sexually abused - which I think was the main reason for her primary frigidity.

Her sexuality was frozen - literally - inside of her. The irony is that the shape of her body, and her status as a sex symbol, told a different story. She was always "acting" for men ... she didn't want to disappoint them.
