Happy St. Valentine's Day!

More than one blogger, all of whom who shall remain linkless (in this post, at any rate) have been bitching and moaning about V-Day. But I'll come out of the red velvet closet and say:
I love Valentine's Day!!!

And it's not because I always get lots of jewelry or other gifts. It's just so red, and pink, and burgandy like wine, and velvety, and plushy and chocolate! And heart-shaped. I love things that are heart-shaped.

To me, Valentine's is mostly about appreciating friends. The best way to do this, in my opinion, isn't to buy a card, chocolate or jewelry. The best thing to do - and I'm not claiming I've lived up to it - is to make cards for all of the people you love. That's right. Cut Hallmark cold. Pull out the ink pad, stamps, finger paint, ribbon and glitter and make cards for the people you love. It'll stretch your creative muscles, make your friends feel good and put the boot to complaints about "commercialism."

I LOVE my friends.
So, in case you didn't get a Valentine, here's one just for you!

If you'd like me to exchange homemade "friend-appreciation" Valentine cards with you next year, send your mailing address to:

Hey Key - I think some of the thorns have been stripped off over the years or they at least got blunted, and that let's the nicer stuff come to the surface more.

Thanks for the happy V-Day wishes, y'all!
